Liverpool ready to pay £128M for Real Madrid superstar. It’s not Vinicius or Rodrygo
The journey embarked upon by 25-year-old Fede Valverde to reach Real Madrid commenced in 2016 when he made the transition from Penarol to the renowned club. Initially, he graced the field for the club’s B team but swiftly ascended the ranks to join the esteemed first-team squad by 2017. Since then, Valverde has accumulated an impressive total of 246 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos, contributing significantly with 19 goals and 23 assists. His pivotal role in Carlo Ancelotti’s team has been particularly prominent during the ongoing season, where he has consistently held his place in the starting lineup.
Throughout the 2023-24 season, the Uruguayan midfielder has maintained a steady presence on the field, featuring in 42 matches for Real Madrid across various competitions. Although his goal-scoring output has been modest, with only one goal to his credit, he has made a significant impact by providing eight assists to his teammates. In November of the previous year, Valverde committed his future to the Spanish giants by signing a new contract, extending his tenure at the club until June 2029.
Despite recently extending his contract, reports suggest that Liverpool is keenly interested in acquiring Valverde. The Merseyside club has allegedly presented a substantial offer of €150 million (£129 million) for the midfielder, considering him a prized addition to their squad. Jurgen Klopp, the current head coach of Liverpool, is rumored to greatly admire Valverde’s abilities, although Klopp is expected to leave his position at the end of the season.
While Real Madrid is eagerly anticipating the arrival of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, they are not under significant pressure to sell players. Mbappe’s impending arrival is anticipated to be a groundbreaking deal, potentially making him the highest-paid player at the club.
However, Valverde’s potential departure could represent a significant shift in Real Madrid’s transfer strategy if they decide to entertain Liverpool’s tempting offer.
