Former Chelsea Manager Graham Potter has rejected offer from Huge European Club as odds slashed on him becoming next Premier League manager
According to reports from Sky Sports News, it has been revealed that Graham Potter has opted against seizing the opportunity to step into the shoes of the next Ajax manager. Despite engaging in thorough discussions with the club officials, Potter, who previously managed Chelsea and Brighton, is understood to have made the decision not to actively pursue the managerial position.
The 48-year-old has been on the sidelines without a managerial role since his departure from Chelsea back in April 2023. It was speculated by Sky Sports in December that Potter could emerge as a prominent candidate on Ineos’ list of potential managerial replacements should they part ways with Erik ten Hag.
As per information from Bet365, Potter is currently leading the pack as the top contender, with odds set at 3/1, to take over the managerial reins at United. Following closely behind is Gareth Southgate, the manager of England’s national team, with odds of 4/1, while Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton, Ruben Amorim of Sporting, and Thomas Frank of Brentford are all listed at 8/1.
Dan Ashworth, who is poised to assume the role of sporting director at United, previously had Potter under his wing at Brighton, where the latter received recognition for his strategic acumen. Under Potter’s guidance in his final season at Brighton, the team achieved a commendable top-half finish in the Premier League standings.
Despite speculation, Ten Hag, ahead of the recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool, reiterated his commitment to staying put at United for the forthcoming season.
