Two Liverpool main players are back in the starting XI

Tonight, Liverpool faces a daunting task as they strive to overcome a substantial deficit in the Europa League quarter-final clash against Atalanta. Their hopes have been dampened by last Thursday’s disheartening 3-0 loss at Anfield, followed by an unexpected defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League title pursuit on Sunday.

The looming question revolves around Jurgen Klopp’s decision regarding the composition of the team for the journey to Italy. This decision is especially crucial considering the urgent need to make up ground domestically, with a crucial match against Fulham on the horizon this weekend, followed by a midweek showdown in the Merseyside derby.

Although Klopp has emphasized the importance of taking the Europa League seriously, the potential return of injured players could provide a boost to Liverpool’s prospects. The presence of Alisson, who returned during the Palace match and is expected to continue guarding the goal in Italy, is reassuring. However, Conor Bradley’s absence due to injury means that Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to make his first start since February.

While Diogo Jota’s availability is a positive development, Stefan Bajcetic’s recent return to action doesn’t position him for immediate inclusion in the lineup. Additionally, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ben Doak remain sidelined as long-term absentees for Liverpool.

The predicted Liverpool starting lineup, adopting a 4-3-3 formation, comprises Alisson in goal; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, and Robertson in defense; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, and Elliott in midfield; and Salah, Jota, and Diaz leading the attack.
