Erik ten Hag, the manager of Man United, is a candidate for the position at Bayern Munich.

Florian Plettenberg, a reputable journalist, has shed light on a potential shift in the managerial landscape of European football. It’s been hinted that Manchester United’s current manager is being seriously considered as one of the top contenders to helm Bayern Munich in the upcoming season. This speculation arises as Bayern Munich faces a managerial vacuum with Thomas Tuchel’s imminent departure, following a season where the club fell short of clinching the league title, thus signaling a significant change in the Bundesliga’s power dynamics.

Tuchel’s tenure saw Bayern Munich relinquish its stranglehold on the league, paving the way for Bayer Leverkusen, led by Xabi Alonso, to claim the championship. This unexpected turn of events has prompted Bayern to explore fresh managerial avenues, with ten Hag emerging as a frontrunner for the coveted position. Interestingly, Bayern Munich had previously courted former Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick, who opted to remain loyal to the Austrian national team, declining Bayern’s offer.

While discussions regarding ten Hag’s potential move to Bayern Munich have commenced between his representatives and the German club, direct dialogue between Bayern Munich and ten Hag himself has yet to materialize. The decision to part ways with Tuchel was made earlier in February, with Alonso initially being earmarked as Bayern’s preferred candidate before ultimately deciding to stay put at Leverkusen. Julian Nagelsmann, a former Bayern Munich coach who later transitioned to helm the German national team, was also considered for the role.

Currently, Bayern Munich’s managerial quest centers on ten Hag and Julen Lopetegui. Lopetegui, currently at Manchester United, has been under scrutiny due to the team’s lackluster performance, languishing in eighth place in the league standings.

The situation at Manchester United has been further complicated by the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe as a new minority owner, fueling speculations about potential leadership changes. Should ten Hag depart Old Trafford at the end of the season, he could seamlessly transition to Bayern Munich, drawing on his prior experience with the German club during his stint with Bayern Munich II under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage.
