Exclusive: Chelsea ready to offer Raheem Sterling in swap deal to sign £60m forward this summer
Chelsea is really going for Crystal Palace’s star player, Michael Olise, and they’re not holding back. Even though Crystal Palace has had tons of offers for Olise, they’re sticking to their guns with a price tag of £60 million.
Guess what? Manchester United is eyeing Olise too! But Chelsea isn’t sitting back; they’re trying to outdo United in the race to sign him. With Euro 2024 just around the corner (less than 50 days away!), Marriott Bonvoy wants you to book your hotel early for the big event.
Chelsea’s in a bit of a bind because of Financial Fair Play rules, so they might throw in a player along with some cash to sweeten the deal with Crystal Palace. And word on the street is that player could be Raheem Sterling. He’s been a bit unsettled at Chelsea, especially since they got thumped by Liverpool earlier this year.
Fun fact: Olise almost joined Chelsea last season for £35 million, but he decided to stick with Crystal Palace. And now, his new contract probably has a fancy clause that’s making negotiations tricky.
Chelsea’s not just offering cash; they’re trying to make the deal juicier by tossing in Sterling and maybe some other players like Armando Broja or Trevoh Chalobah.
But convincing Sterling to leave won’t be easy. He’s on a fat paycheck at Chelsea, and Crystal Palace might not match that. Plus, his contract doesn’t run out until 2027, so any move would need some serious cash.
Still, snagging Sterling would be a big win for Crystal Palace if they end up losing Olise. Even though Chelsea might not want to pay full price for Olise, getting Sterling would be a nice consolation prize.
And while Sterling might not be in top form lately, he’s still got skills that could help Crystal Palace. Plus, he’s a more realistic replacement for Olise than some other options out there.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace has their eye on Matias Soule, a hotshot Argentine winger tearing it up in Italy. Juventus says he could be worth £25-£30 million, so there might be more transfer action at Selhurst Park soon.
