“Man United must suffer for releasing him for free, he’s one of the best players in the world now and i felt sorry for him when i heard the news”- Former Man United coach Jose Mourinho says Man united player released on free is even better than Foden and Grealish combined

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his regret over the club’s decision to let a top player leave on a free transfer, stating that the player, now considered one of the best in the world, surpasses the combined talent of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

Mason Greenwood, a promising forward for Manchester United, faces an uncertain future as Italian giants Juventus have shown significant interest in acquiring him. Greenwood, 22, has been absent from Manchester United’s lineup since January 2022 following his suspension due to allegations of assault against his girlfriend.

Last season, Greenwood was loaned out to Spanish club Getafe, where he showcased his skills by scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 33 La Liga matches. Despite his strong performance, the appointment of Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s manager has quashed any hopes of Greenwood’s return to Old Trafford.

Juventus remains eager to sign Greenwood. According to a report from Caught Offside, negotiations are ongoing, but no agreement on personal terms has been reached yet. The discussions are described as “open,” indicating that various possibilities are still being considered.

Greenwood’s potential move to Juventus is contingent upon the sale of Federico Chiesa. The 26-year-old Italian international, currently participating in the European Championships, has been in talks with Juventus about extending his contract, which expires in 2025. However, there is still a significant gap between the club’s offer and Chiesa’s demands, leaving his future uncertain. Another meeting is scheduled to take place after the Euros to resolve the matter.

Should Greenwood join Juventus, he would be joining forces with Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic and Polish forward Arkadiuz Milik under the leadership of new manager Thiago Motta. Motta, who recently guided Bologna to a Champions League spot, will now aim to replicate his success with Juventus following their third-place finish under Max Allegri last season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is actively seeking to enhance their attacking lineup this summer. Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has been strongly linked with a move to the club. Rasmus Hojlund, who joined Manchester United for £72 million from Atalanta last summer, had a mixed debut season but finished strongly, scoring 15 goals in all competitions. Despite Manchester United’s disappointing eighth-place finish in the Premier League, they secured the FA Cup by defeating Manchester City at Wembley.

Reports from Talksport suggest that Manchester United is looking to sell Greenwood to generate funds for their summer transfer plans and support Erik ten Hag’s ambitions. The radio station claims that the club currently has only around £35 million available for spending this summer, necessitating player sales to finance further acquisitions.
