After the match against Brighton, which took place yesterday and resulted in Manchester United’s victory by a score of 2-0, it was revealed that the star player for Manchester United is planning to depart from the club after the conclusion of the 2024 European Championship.

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has provided an uncertain outlook regarding his future at the club, amidst swirling rumors of a potential squad overhaul. Recent reports suggest that the club is open to entertaining offers for nearly all members of Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad, with only a few younger players, such as Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rasmus Hojlund, deemed off-limits for transfer discussions.
In a revealing interview with DAZN, Fernandes discussed his current situation and long-term prospects at Manchester United. Although he expressed contentment with his present circumstances at Old Trafford, the 29-year-old midfielder did not entirely dismiss the idea of a departure in the upcoming summer. Fernandes emphasized his focus on immediate commitments but acknowledged that future decisions could be influenced by factors beyond his personal desires.
“At the moment, my attention is not on potential moves away. I am not thinking about other things. It’s not solely up to me,” Fernandes stated. He continued, explaining the reciprocal nature of player-club relationships: “A player has to want to stay, and the club needs to want to keep the player. Currently, I sense that mutual desire exists.”
Despite this, Fernandes admitted that the season has not met his or the team’s expectations, both from individual and collective standpoints. However, he remains hopeful about concluding the season with silverware, referring to Manchester United’s prospects in the FA Cup. Looking ahead, he also mentioned the significant European Championships (Euros) on his agenda, which further divert his attention from transfer speculation until after the summer.
“The only future events I’m considering right now are the FA Cup final and the Euros. Nothing else is as important at this time,” Fernandes asserted.
Much of the conjecture about potential player exits has centered around Marcus Rashford, another key figure at Manchester United. Similar to Fernandes, it appears that the club might only entertain the idea of selling Rashford if they receive a substantial offer and if Rashford expresses a desire to leave.
Fernandes, who has been instrumental for United since his transfer from Sporting CP in January 2020, has two years left on his current contract. Manchester United also holds the option to extend this contract by an additional year. This contractual situation adds another layer of complexity to any discussions about his future at the club. As Fernandes approaches his 30th birthday in September, the coming months could prove pivotal in determining the trajectory of his career with the club amidst this period of uncertainty and potential transition.
