Manchester United have decided to retain Erik ten Hag as their manager, and the Dutch coach has expressed a strong desire to add a high-caliber midfielder to the squad this summer.

Two years ago, Ten Hag made an attempt to bring Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford, but the Dutch midfielder chose to remain at Barcelona. Currently, another player from the Catalan giants has caught the eye of Manchester United.

According to the latest report from Sport, Ten Hag is targeting players with exceptional technical skills and has identified Fermin Lopez as a prime candidate for Manchester United. The reputable Catalan newspaper has revealed that the Red Devils have made an initial bid of £25.4 million (30 million euros) for the Spanish midfielder.

Despite this offer, Barcelona have dismissed it with a smile, indicating that only a significantly higher fee would convince them to part with the 21-year-old talent.

As for Lopez’s own wishes, he has expressed a strong desire to remain with Barcelona. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, he stated, “I’d be happy to sign a new deal at Barça. This club has been my dream since I was a kid. I hope to stay at Barcelona for many years, it’s my clear wish.”

Lopez made a significant impact in the first team last season under the guidance of Xavi. He started 14 matches in La Liga and scored eight goals. Additionally, he netted two goals in the UEFA Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk and Napoli, performances that led to his inclusion in the Spanish national team.

Earlier this month, Lopez made his debut for La Roja in a match against Andorra and is currently participating in the European Championships in Germany.

Considering this, should Manchester United increase their offer to secure the signing of Fermin Lopez?
