Chelsea have reached an agreement on a £19 million transfer deal for Aston Villa teenager Omari Kellyman, marking their second acquisition of the summer.
The 18-year-old England Under-19 international is expected to discuss and finalize personal terms with Chelsea, which should be straightforward, before undergoing a medical. Upon agreement, Kellyman will likely sign a five- or six-year contract.
Kellyman, who has made six first-team appearances for Aston Villa, including two in the Premier League last season, is set to join Chelsea under manager Enzo Maresca. This transfer follows the recent free signing of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham and an agreement with Palmeiras for wonderkid Estevao Willian, who will join next summer.
This move for Kellyman coincides with Aston Villa’s agreement to a £37.5 million deal for Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen. Maatsen, a Netherlands left-back, is expected to finalize personal terms for his transfer to Villa Park. Borussia Dortmund had also shown interest in making Maatsen’s loan move permanent but could not meet Chelsea’s financial requirements.
