Contract signed: Manchester United set to announce their first summer signing tomorrow, deal to be signed tonight, Medical to follow up tomorrow morning – welcome to Old Trafford

Over the past few months, Morten Hjulmand has frequently been mentioned in connection with a potential move to Manchester United. With the 24-year-old recently showcasing his skills and scoring against England in the Euros, these rumors are gaining traction, particularly with the inclusion of Gonçalo Inácio in the conversation.

The Portuguese newspaper A Bola has reported that any club interested in acquiring the Danish midfielder must be prepared to pay Sporting Lisbon a hefty sum of €80 million. This amount corresponds to his release clause, reflecting Sporting’s strong stance against negotiating his departure with Manchester United or any other club.

Hjulmand’s journey with Sporting began last season when he was signed for €19.5 million from Lecce. His impressive performance over the past year has demonstrated the club’s knack for making lucrative deals, first evidenced by their successful Portuguese title campaign and now by his notable contributions in Euro 2024. Initial reports of Manchester United’s interest originated from the English media, while the Spanish press has suggested that Barcelona is also keen on the midfielder.

Sporting has significant plans for Hjulmand in the upcoming season, highlighting his leadership qualities that might even see him don the captain’s armband in the future. Another Manchester United target, Gonçalo Inácio, is also seen as a potential leader. According to A Bola, Manchester United is preparing to make a move for Inácio, who has a €60 million release clause.

As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen how much Erik ten Hag’s side is willing to invest in these promising players from Sporting Lisbon.
