Manchester United cannot depend solely on Rasmus Hojlund for the upcoming season and must secure a new center forward during the summer transfer window.
Recent media reports indicate that Manchester United is making significant efforts to acquire Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, and they are prepared to meet his £33.8 million release clause.
The Telegraph reports that the Red Devils’ primary objectives this summer include signing a center forward and a defensive midfielder.
Regarding the striker position, the British publication claims that Manchester United is ready to activate the £33.8 million termination clause to bring Zirkzee to Old Trafford from Bologna. While they have other options lined up, the club is particularly eager to secure the 23-year-old Dutch forward.
In the 2012-13 season, retired Dutch striker Robin van Persie scored 26 goals, playing a pivotal role in Manchester United’s Premier League title victory. Since then, no player at Old Trafford has reached the 20-goal mark in a Premier League campaign, which has been a significant factor in the team’s struggles to contend for the title.
