According to recent reports from Spanish media, Manchester United have secured a deal to sign Miguel Gutierrez, a promising young talent currently playing for Girona.
Gutierrez, 22, was previously a member of the Real Madrid squad that achieved significant success two years ago, winning both La Liga and the Champions League. Despite these early achievements, it was at Girona where Gutierrez truly made his mark over the past two seasons, particularly flourishing under the guidance of manager Michel in the most recent campaign.
The young defender’s contract with Girona is set to run until 2027, and his current earnings are relatively modest, amounting to approximately £280,000 per year. Real Madrid retains an option to reacquire Gutierrez this summer for a fee of just 8 million euros, as reported by Cadena Ser.
However, despite this buyback clause, reports from The Express, citing Spanish sources, indicate that Real Madrid has already decided to take advantage of the clause to re-sign Gutierrez. Subsequently, they have negotiated a deal worth £34 million with Manchester United, who are in the market for a new left-back to replace Luke Shaw.
This transfer, if finalized, would see Gutierrez moving to Old Trafford, adding depth and youthful energy to Manchester United’s defensive lineup. The agreement signifies United’s intent to strengthen their squad as they prepare for the upcoming season, with Gutierrez expected to play a key role in their defensive strategy.
