Even though FC Barcelona places a high priority on its first team, the club also remains committed to other important responsibilities, such as strengthening its youth academy. Despite facing financial difficulties, Barcelona continues to pursue a sustainable project centered around the development of young talent.
A crucial aspect of this sustainable approach is fostering youth players who can eventually make significant contributions to the first team or Barcelona Atletic. According to SPORT, Barcelona has successfully signed 14-year-old Byron Mendoza, a promising left-footed winger who has impressed in the youth ranks of Leganes. Barcelona had identified him as a key target for some time.
Mendoza, who will turn 15 in September, previously played in the youth system of Real Madrid but was let go by their coaches. Although Real Madrid made efforts to bring him back, Barcelona has now secured his talents.
Roger Rodríguez, the coach of Cadet A at Fornells, spoke highly of Mendoza, describing him as a player with a ‘magical left foot.’ He commented:
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a player of his caliber; he is truly exceptional. He possesses a magical left foot, incredible speed, and can create chaos both on the wings and in central positions. It’s remarkable; he also has a powerful long-range shot and is very team-oriented, knowing how to play effectively with his teammates.”
Mendoza is expected to join Arnau Blanco’s Cadet A team and progress through the ranks. With his exceptional skills and understanding of the game, he brings immense potential to Barcelona.
