Second summer signing confirmed: Manchester United have agreed personal terms to sign £60m full back, terms agreed already, announcement imminent

Manchester United have joined the competition to acquire one of Arsenal’s key summer transfer targets.

According to a report by Sports Digitale in Turkey, Manchester United are showing strong interest in Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu. However, they have not yet made a formal bid for the player. The Red Devils are planning discussions with Kadioglu’s representatives to gauge his interest in a move to Old Trafford. Arsenal, meanwhile, have had the 24-year-old on their radar for several months and even agreed on personal terms with him back in May. Despite this, they have not finalized a deal with Fenerbahce for his transfer.

Kadioglu’s career trajectory at Fenerbahce is noteworthy. Initially an attacking player, he excelled in the no.10 and right-wing roles. Over time, he has honed his defensive skills and now regularly features as a full-back for both his club and the Turkish national team. His defensive prowess is complemented by his ability to contribute offensively, a skill developed during his early years as a forward. Kadioglu’s dribbling capabilities enable him to bypass defenders effectively, and at Euro 2024, he averaged 2.4 key passes per game for Turkey.

Arsenal had shown significant interest in Kadioglu earlier this summer. However, their focus appears to have shifted towards Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. Calafiori, who can play as a central defender or a left-back, is close to joining the Gunners, which may end their pursuit of Kadioglu.

This development is promising for Manchester United, who are in need of reliable full-back options. Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have struggled with injuries, and the club requires a dependable player for the left-back position. Kadioglu’s versatility means he could also cover the right-back spot, particularly if Aaron Wan-Bissaka departs. To secure Kadioglu, United might need to pay around £30 million, a figure justified by his standout defensive performance at Euro 2024, where he made the most tackles (18).
