Second signing Confirmed: Manchester United second signing to be completed today,After the player sign 5yr deal with United yesterday, Medical today as Club official announcement will be done this evening

Multiple sources have confirmed that Manchester United has reached an agreement with Lille to secure the services of French defender Leny Yoro. However, the specifics of the deal have varied significantly across reports.

Earlier, ESPN disclosed that Manchester United had settled on a 45 million euro deal with the Ligue 1 club to acquire the 18-year-old defensive prodigy. This figure appeared to set the stage for Yoro’s anticipated move to Old Trafford. But today, the Manchester Evening News has presented a strikingly different account. According to their latest printed edition (Page 46), Manchester United has agreed to a substantially higher fee of £54.6 million, which translates to 65 million euros, for the young talent.

As the situation stands, Erik ten Hag’s team is in a holding pattern, awaiting Yoro’s decision on whether he will commit to joining the Red Devils. The young defender is reportedly considering a move to Real Madrid instead, where he could join fellow Frenchmen Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and new acquisition Kylian Mbappe. Real Madrid is seeking to strengthen their backline following the departure of Nacho, making Yoro a potential target for them as well.

This summer, Manchester United has shown a clear intent to bolster their defensive ranks, aiming to remedy the defensive vulnerabilities that plagued them last season. They are not limiting themselves to just one addition; the club is reportedly interested in bringing in as many as three central defenders. Alongside Yoro, Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has emerged as another target. Manchester United has already had a couple of bids for Branthwaite turned down but remains persistent in their pursuit.

Additionally, Erik ten Hag is keen on a reunion with former Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt. De Ligt’s experience and leadership qualities would be a valuable asset for Manchester United’s backline.

With the new Premier League season fast approaching, Manchester United fans are eager to see which defenders will ultimately join the squad. Strengthening the defense is crucial for the team to improve upon last season’s performances and mount a serious challenge for the title. The decisions made in the coming weeks will be critical in shaping Manchester United’s prospects for the upcoming campaign.

Who do you think Manchester United should prioritize signing to solidify their defense before the new season kicks off?
