Manchester United has successfully negotiated personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain’s midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to renowned transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
In recent weeks, Ugarte has become a top target for United as they aim to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s midfield ahead of the 2024/25 season. With the potential departures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen from Old Trafford, United is in dire need of replacements. Moreover, they need an ideal partner for young talent Kobbie Mainoo, and Ugarte fits this requirement perfectly.
Previously, United submitted an initial offer for Ugarte, as reported by The Peoples Person, but it was quickly rejected by PSG for not meeting their valuation of the South American player. Despite this setback, United continued negotiations with the French champions to find a mutually agreeable transfer fee.
There have also been rumors suggesting that Erik ten Hag’s team might propose a loan arrangement for the 23-year-old midfielder. Ugarte, who has fallen out of favor under PSG’s current manager Luis Enrique, is reportedly eager to join United, believing his future lies away from Paris.
Fabrizio Romano, the well-known Italian journalist, provided a crucial update, confirming that Ugarte has agreed to the personal terms offered by Manchester United. Romano shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte. Contract terms discussed, player keen on moving to United even without Champions League football. Club-to-club talks continue with PSG, as more clubs also inquired. Last season, Ugarte made 37 appearances across all competitions for PSG, though he only recorded two assists. Besides United, the Uruguayan has attracted interest from La Liga giants Barcelona and Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich, indicating his high demand in the transfer market.
As the negotiations progress, Manchester United fans eagerly await official confirmation of Ugarte’s move, hopeful that his addition will significantly bolster their squad for the challenges of the upcoming season.
