I have made up my mind to join them, but seeing Him at the club still discourages me from joining because I don’t want to associate myself with a Flop”, Man united transfer target Manuel Ugarte tells Ten Hag to release £40m player before He would agree to join Man United this summer
Manchester United have decided against meeting Paris Saint-Germain’s steep valuation for Manuel Ugarte despite having reached an agreement with the midfielder on personal terms, according to recent reports.
After securing the signings of Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and young French defender Leny Yoro from Lille, Manchester United are now focusing on acquiring a defensive midfielder to bolster their squad.
Manuel Ugarte, the Uruguayan international, has emerged as the prime candidate, with numerous sources indicating that he has already agreed to personal terms with Manchester United.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that the next step involves Manchester United and PSG negotiating a transfer fee, with influential agent Jorge Mendes playing a crucial role once again. In his Caught Offside column, Romano wrote: “Manchester United have reached an agreement with Manuel Ugarte on personal terms; he is keen on the move. The situation now hinges on Manchester United and PSG finding common ground on the fee, and there’s a chance Casemiro or McTominay could depart if a good offer comes through.
“This implies that, after securing Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, Manchester United are now prepared to address their midfield needs.
“The potential exit of Casemiro is significant, but to clarify, I cannot confirm any issues related to United struggling to sell him, which might affect the Ugarte deal. Interest from Saudi Arabia in Casemiro persists, but finalizing contract terms and transfer fees often takes time.
“Manchester United have already obtained the green light for Ugarte as a possible new midfielder. The contract discussions have been managed by Jorge Mendes, who also represents Leny Yoro.
“Jorge Mendes remains a major figure in the transfer market, and Manchester United maintains a strong relationship with Paris Saint-Germain. If PSG receives a satisfactory offer, this transfer could materialize in the coming days or weeks.”
Providing an update on Saturday, Romano added: “Paris Saint-Germain are ready to allow Manu Ugarte to join Manchester United, as they are determined to sign João Neves. There is an agreement between João and PSG, but negotiations with Benfica over the transfer fee are ongoing.”
French outlet L’Equipe has reported that PSG are demanding €70 million from Manchester United for Ugarte, which is €10 million more than what they paid Sporting Lisbon for him last year.
“PSG opened the door to Ugarte’s departure at the beginning of the summer when Manchester United initially expressed interest. PSG does not want to incur a loss on a player they bought for €60 million last season from Sporting Portugal.
“PSG’s management is asking for €70 million for the transfer of the Uruguayan international. Manchester United, however, are reluctant to invest this amount immediately and are considering alternative proposals, including a loan with an option to buy.”
