“He’s not committed to the training anymore after Man United’s £70M bid to sign him was rejected…I have given up already, he can leave now”: Club manager cries out over his player’s recent behaviour after Man United £70M bid to sign him was rejected

Manchester United recently made an initial bid for Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but the offer was rejected. PSG, the reigning French champions, are reportedly seeking around £51 million for the Uruguayan international. United’s interest in Ugarte has surfaced amidst speculation that their current holding midfielder, Casemiro, may leave Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.
Ugarte joined PSG after declining an opportunity to transfer to Chelsea last summer. His move to the French capital came with a price tag slightly exceeding £50 million. Although Ugarte started the 2023-24 season regularly featured in the squad under manager Luis Enrique, his playing time diminished in the latter part of the season. As a result, PSG appears open to the idea of selling the midfielder.
Sources close to PSG indicate that Manchester United’s initial bid was “significantly below” the club’s valuation of Ugarte. While Manchester United has described the negotiations as merely “exploratory talks,” PSG is firm in its stance to recover the £51 million they invested in acquiring Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon the previous year. It remains uncertain whether Manchester United is prepared to meet this asking price, but it is widely believed that Ugarte will depart Parc des Princes this summer.
Manchester United’s transfer budget for the summer is reportedly limited to around £35 million, necessitating additional funds through player sales. This financial constraint was evident in their recent dealings with Everton for defender Jarrad Branthwaite. United’s opening bid for Branthwaite, which included £35 million plus £8 million in potential add-ons, was promptly declined by Everton, who value the young defender at £70 million.
Despite reaching personal terms with Branthwaite, United has not been able to convince Everton to lower their asking price. The club is not in a hurry to make a higher offer for the 21-year-old defender and is prepared to walk away from negotiations if Everton remains inflexible.
