The Barcelona star is close to joining Manchester United

Barcelona is actively working during the current transfer window to strengthen its team with top players worldwide, despite facing an ongoing economic crisis in recent years. While there’s much buzz about new signings, there are also subtle developments within the club regarding players who might be leaving this summer. Some surprising names may be bidding farewell to Camp Nou.

According to a report from the Spanish newspaper “Sport,” Barcelona is seriously considering letting go of the team’s star player, Frenkie de Jong, from the Netherlands. De Jong is set to become the highest-paid player in La Liga next season, earning more than any Real Madrid player, including Mbappe. The newspaper suggests that De Jong might transfer to Manchester United during this transfer window, with negotiations between the two clubs reportedly in advanced stages. Hansi Flick, the coach, has reportedly agreed to the player’s departure due to his frequent injuries and perceived lack of significant contribution to the team.

The report also mentions that Dutch coach Erik ten Hag is very keen on signing De Jong and would be willing to pay 80 million euros for his transfer. This amount could significantly aid Barcelona in addressing its financial challenges.
