Manchester United Finalizes £50m Transfer: Mazraoui Set for Five-Year Contract
Manchester United has officially secured the signing of one of Europe’s most coveted talents, with the deal valued at £50 million. After weeks of negotiations, the transfer is now confirmed, and Mazraoui will be joining the Red Devils on a five-year contract. His medical examination is scheduled for today.
With West Ham United out of the running, Manchester United is progressing rapidly toward finalizing the acquisition of Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. Recent reports have indicated that Bayern Munich had initially priced Mazraoui at £25 million. West Ham had proposed a discounted offer of €20 million, but complications over personal terms led to the collapse of the deal.
Currently, Manchester United is in advanced discussions with Bayern Munich to complete the transfer of the Moroccan international. According to AZ, West Ham’s negotiations faltered due to an inability to reach an agreement with Mazraoui’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta.
Mazraoui, who has made 28 appearances for Morocco, was born in the Netherlands and previously played for Ajax under the management of Erik ten Hag, who is now United’s manager. Given their history together, it is not surprising that Ten Hag is keen to bring Mazraoui to Old Trafford.
However, Manchester United’s defensive struggles last season, marked by numerous injuries, raise concerns about Mazraoui’s fitness. Despite his potential, the player had an injury-plagued campaign with Bayern Munich, starting only 15 Bundesliga matches and playing a significant role in Morocco’s World Cup semi-final run in 2022.
Former Everton executive, Wyness, shared his insights with Football Insider, noting that while medical evaluations are conducted, they often do not reveal the full extent of a player’s long-term durability.
The question now is whether Manchester United should proceed with the deal to bring Mazraoui to the club. What are your thoughts on this potential signing?
