Man City, Arsenal-linked Dani Olmo has made his transfer decision

Dani Olmo is reportedly making a strong effort to secure a transfer to FC Barcelona this summer, as noted by Matteo Moretto.

Olmo’s reputation has increased significantly over the summer due to his outstanding performance at Euro 2024. During the tournament, he managed to score three goals and provide two assists, playing a pivotal role in Spain’s success. This performance earned him a share of the Top Scorer Award, alongside prominent players such as Harry Kane, Cody Gakpo, and Jamal Musiala.

Prior to this, Olmo was already a well-regarded player, having recorded 29 goals and 34 assists in 148 appearances for RB Leipzig since joining the team from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020.

In recent times, he has been linked with several top Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

However, it appears that Barcelona is currently leading the competition to sign him. Reports indicate that the Catalan club is close to finalizing a deal, with Olmo showing a strong desire to return to the club where he spent seven years as a youth player. It is reported that he ‘only wants to go to Barcelona.’

According to Moretto, as mentioned in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, Barcelona and Dani Olmo have already reached a verbal agreement. Olmo is insisting on joining Barcelona and is putting pressure on RB Leipzig to finalize the transfer. Barcelona is close to meeting the €60 million asking price, with their latest offer being €55 million plus €4 million in easily achievable add-ons and €3 million in more challenging performance-based incentives.

Negotiations are still ongoing regarding the bonuses and payment terms, and Barcelona might need to slightly increase their offer. The clubs are negotiating, with Leipzig aiming to get the best possible return on their key player.

“The negotiations are progressing positively, and the final agreement will likely hinge on the balance between fixed fees and bonuses,” Moretto noted. “Olmo is pushing for the move, Barcelona is confident about completing the deal, and Leipzig, aware of Olmo’s desire to leave, is open to negotiations. Currently, there is optimism about reaching an agreement.”
