FEE AGREED: Manchester United set to welcome another superstar signing tomorrow, after reaching verbal agreement on a 4yr deal – player to arrive with representative tomorrow

Manchester United struggled with their defense during the last Premier League season, frequently conceding goals, and this issue appears unresolved in the current pre-season.

During their tour in the USA, the Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal and were subsequently overpowered by Liverpool with a 3-0 loss.

Despite paying a premium to secure the young talent Leny Yoro, United now faces the setback of the teenager spending significant time in recovery due to injury.

To address their defensive vulnerabilities, Manchester United needs to invest heavily in strengthening their central defense. They have been consistently linked with Matthijs de Ligt.

An exclusive report by GMS reveals that De Ligt has verbally agreed to a contract with Manchester United, which would see him earn £200,000 per week.

However, the club is hesitant to meet Bayern Munich’s asking price of £45 million plus additional bonuses to finalize the transfer.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United has already agreed on personal terms with De Ligt for a five-year contract but has had an initial bid rejected by Bayern Munich.

Under the proposed contract, the 24-year-old Dutch star would earn £200,000 weekly, totaling £52 million over five years.

Currently, De Ligt earns £263,000 per week with the German Bundesliga club and has three years remaining on his contract, making his willingness to accept a pay cut to join Manchester United quite surprising.

Whether De Ligt will play under fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag in the 2024-25 season remains to be seen. Only time will tell if this transfer will materialize.
