Manchester United is on the verge of finalizing a significant deal worth £55.8 million to bring in two key players from Bayern Munich—Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui—but there’s a catch in one of the transfer negotiations.

Renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that today is expected to be pivotal for Manchester United, as they aim to wrap up the signings of the Bayern Munich duo. Romano confirmed on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Monday will be the day for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, plan 100% confirmed.”

According to the latest report from The Daily Mail, Manchester United has successfully reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for a deal worth £55.8 million to secure both De Ligt and Mazraoui. The report further indicates that the two players are set to travel to Manchester today to finalize their moves from the Bundesliga giants.

While the signing of De Ligt is expected to proceed without any complications, the acquisition of Mazraoui hinges on the departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Moroccan international is reportedly waiting for Wan-Bissaka’s transfer to be completed before he can reunite with his former Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag, at Old Trafford.

The Daily Mail notes that Manchester United is currently in discussions to settle the terms of Wan-Bissaka’s exit. The English defender had a medical examination with West Ham scheduled for yesterday, but it has been pushed to today, delaying Mazraoui’s potential move.

Manchester United has faced some setbacks in their recent pre-season matches, suffering losses to both Liverpool and Arsenal. Additionally, they were defeated by Manchester City in the Community Shield match over the weekend. With the Premier League season fast approaching, manager Erik ten Hag is eager to bolster his squad ahead of their opener against Fulham. He will be hoping that both Mazraoui and De Ligt will be available to strengthen the team’s chances.
