Paul Pogba: Juventus midfielder banned for four years after World Cup winner tested positive for doping

Paul Pogba has been hit with a significant setback in his professional career, as he has been slapped with a four-year ban after testing positive for DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) back in August. This ban duration aligns with the standard length mandated by the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA), indicating the severity of the offense. In response to this ruling, Pogba has expressed his intention to contest the ban through an appeal process at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The decision to impose the four-year ban stemmed from Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal (TNA), which granted the request put forth by the Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office. This action underscores the commitment to maintaining integrity in sports and upholding anti-doping regulations on a global scale.

The ban officially commenced from the time of Pogba’s initial positive test, meaning he will be ineligible to participate in any professional competitions until August 2027. This prolonged absence from the sport raises concerns about the future trajectory of his career, particularly considering that he will be 34 years old when the ban expires.

Pogba, in a statement issued following the verdict, expressed his profound disappointment and disbelief at the outcome. He emphasized his intention to shed light on the situation fully once he is freed from legal constraints, asserting his innocence and denying any deliberate violation of anti-doping protocols.

Despite the setback, Pogba remains resolute in his determination to seek justice through the appeal process at CAS in Lausanne. His resolve to clear his name and salvage his professional reputation underscores the gravity of the situation and the personal toll it has taken on him.
