Drogba has predicted that one of United’s new recruits will flop, while Souness has voiced doubts about the suitability of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt for the Premier League. Souness questioned De Ligt’s progress since his impressive youth career and noted that his previous clubs, Juventus and Bayern Munich, typically retain their best players.
De Ligt’s underwhelming spells in Serie A and the Bundesliga, combined with his limited playing time in the Netherlands’ Euros campaign, have fueled Souness’s skepticism. He described De Ligt as a “lightweight centre-half” and wondered if he was the right fit for United’s defensive needs.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has advised Harry Maguire to consider leaving the club once De Ligt arrives, suggesting a fresh start would be beneficial for the England international.
