Hansi Flick is urging Barcelona to expedite the acquisition of Neco Williams, ensuring the club does not overlook the Athletic Bilbao star. This push has become even more critical as the transfer of Dani Olmo nears completion. The 22-year-old winger is essential for Barcelona, particularly because the team lacks a player who can complete their left-wing attacking trio.
While Barcelona has other potential targets, Neco Williams stands out as the most urgent and compelling option at this moment. The terms of his contract have already been agreed upon, leaving only a few final details to be settled.
However, the primary challenge is the 58 million euros required to trigger his release clause. To cover this cost, Barcelona needs to raise additional funds. Flick is hopeful that Joan Laporta and Deco will secure the necessary amount by selling players such as Rafinha Diaz.
Barcelona has already transferred Julian Araujo to Bournemouth and will benefit from a 20% share of any future sale of Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham United. Despite these moves, the funds raised are still insufficient. Therefore, there is increased pressure to sell Rafinha Diaz, who, although important under Xavi Hernandez, does not fit into Flick’s plans.
According to *El Nacional*, Flick is keen to offload Rafinha quickly, seeing him as a crucial piece to be moved to facilitate Williams’ signing. Laporta is now responsible for finding a buyer for the 27-year-old, with the hope of generating significant revenue.
Additionally, Vitor Roque, initially favored by Deco, is also on the brink of leaving the club. His performance has been disappointing, leading to the conclusion that his investment was not justified. His continued underwhelming performance during pre-season has solidified the decision that he will likely depart soon.
Once Barcelona successfully completes the sales of Rafinha and Vitor Roque, which are expected to bring in over 80 million euros, Laporta and Deco should be able to proceed with signing Neco Williams.
