Barcelona’s management, under the leadership of Joan Laporta, is actively pursuing the acquisition of a top-tier player from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window of 2024 to enhance the strength and depth of their team. The club has already successfully negotiated the signing of Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig and is also showing strong interest in Nico Williams. However, Williams is likely to stay with his current team, Athletic Bilbao.
According to a report by the Spanish newspaper “Sport,” Barcelona has expressed interest in the French winger Kingsley Coman, who currently plays for Bayern Munich. While Nico Williams remains the club’s primary target, Bayern Munich’s coach, Hans Flick, prefers to keep Coman as a substitute due to his high level of trust in the player’s abilities. This situation may prompt Barcelona to shift their focus toward acquiring Coman instead.
The newspaper also reported that Nico Williams has a release clause in his contract set at 58 million euros. Additionally, Barcelona has officially announced the appointment of Hans Flick as their new head coach, with a contract in place until June 30, 2026. In the previous season, Barcelona secured second place in La Liga, accumulating 85 points from 26 wins, 7 draws, and 5 losses.
