Manchester United have goal which was ruled out vs Brighton after ‘never-before-seen’ offside spotted is set to be reviewed again as after FA released statements

Manchester United experienced a moment of frustration when their second goal against Brighton was disallowed due to a tight offside call. The Red Devils believed they had gained a 2-1 advantage in the 70th minute when Alejandro Garnacho, who had come off the bench for the second time in a week, tapped in a cross from Bruno Fernandes at the far post. The young Argentine celebrated what seemed to be the go-ahead goal, with his teammates joining in the celebration.

However, slow-motion replays revealed a crucial detail: Joshua Zirkzee’s knee was just barely in an offside position. Even more unfortunate for United, Zirkzee was slightly ahead of Garnacho when he attempted the shot. As a result, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervened, determining that Zirkzee was offside, leading to the goal being overturned.

The Premier League later confirmed the decision via their Match Centre Twitter account, stating: “Zirkzee’s goal was awarded on-field. The VAR checked for a potential offside against Zirkzee and recommended that the goal be disallowed. The referee then restarted play with a Brighton free-kick.”

Earlier in the match, Manchester United had fallen behind in the first half when former United striker Danny Welbeck scored his 100th career goal. The Red Devils managed to equalize through Amad Diallo, who was making his first Premier League start of the season.

Despite their efforts, United’s hopes were dashed in the closing stages of the match. Brighton’s Joao Pedro found himself unmarked in the penalty area and headed a cross into the bottom left corner of the net, past goalkeeper Andre Onana. With little time left on the clock, Manchester United was unable to mount a comeback, resulting in their first league defeat of the Premier League season at the Amex Stadium.

Adding to the controversy, there was some debate over whether Zirkzee had actually made contact with the ball before it crossed the goal line, further complicating the offside decision that ultimately cost Manchester United a crucial goal.
