SHOCKING NEWS: coming live from sky sports, Man Utd have goal ruled out vs Brighton after ‘never-before-seen’ offside spotted. Following the game between Brighton and Manchester United Gary Neville who is renowned for his Astute analysis couldn’t believe the scandalous VAR decision which went against Manchester United in the middle minutes of the game and his Response says it all

Manchester United’s hopes for a comeback against Brighton were dashed when their second goal was disallowed due to a finely detected offside. The Red Devils believed they had secured a 2-1 lead at the 70-minute mark when Alejandro Garnacho, who had recently been brought on as a substitute, capitalized on a well-placed cross from Bruno Fernandes, slotting the ball into the net from the back post. The young Argentinian celebrated the goal with his teammates, confident that they had turned the tide in their favor.

However, the joy was short-lived. The crucial moment came when replays revealed that fellow substitute Joshua Zirkzee had made slight contact with the ball just before it crossed the line. The question that arose was whether Zirkzee’s touch occurred before or after the ball was already on its way into the net. Slow-motion footage confirmed that Zirkzee’s knee was indeed slightly ahead of the ball at the time of the touch, putting him in an offside position.

The VAR (Video Assistant Referee) review then took center stage, meticulously analyzing the footage. It was determined that Zirkzee’s position was just ahead of Garnacho when the ball was played, which constituted an offside offense. Consequently, the goal was ruled out, and play resumed with a free-kick for Brighton, much to the frustration of Manchester United.

Earlier in the match, Manchester United found themselves trailing after former player Danny Welbeck scored for Brighton in the first half, marking his 100th career goal. United managed to equalize through Amad Diallo, who was making his first Premier League start of the season and impressed with his performance. But the match took a devastating turn for United late on when Joao Pedro found himself unmarked in the box and headed in a cross to secure a 2-1 victory for Brighton, leaving Erik ten Hag’s side to contemplate what could have been.
