“This is what they need to fix if they want to win the league this season. That’s the only problem they have right now. We havs this issues back then under Alex Ferguson but we fixed it. Erik Ten Hag has the right player to fix the issue and he is the only available player that can execute the job.l”-Paul Scholes slams Man Utd and singles out ‘biggest Manchester United problem’ that reacalled after Liverpool humiliation as gives Erik ten Hag the solution to the problem…

Paul Scholes has shared his thoughts on what he believes is Manchester United’s most pressing issue following their disappointing defeat to fierce rivals Liverpool.
In the match, United was completely outclassed as Liverpool secured a dominant 3-0 win, with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah among the goalscorers. The Red Devils appeared to struggle throughout the game, failing to match Liverpool’s intensity and tactical sharpness.
After this demoralizing loss, the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag has intensified. Many fans are questioning his leadership, and discussions around his potential dismissal have reignited, with betting odds on his departure shortening significantly.
Paul Scholes, the former England and Manchester United midfield maestro, provided his analysis on Premier League Productions shortly after the match. In his opinion, a key flaw in the current United team lies in the heart of the pitch.
Scholes remarked, “It was a tough afternoon for United, but they need to recognize what they’re up against. It’s clear there’s a significant amount of work to be done. The central midfield is where I see the biggest problem. Liverpool was miles ahead in that area today.”
He further pointed out the physical disparity between the two teams, adding, “What really struck me, watching from pitchside, was how much fitter and more athletic Liverpool looked compared to United. [Kobbie] Mainoo took a while to get into the game; Bruno Fernandes seemed off the pace; and [Joshua] Zirkzee, who hasn’t had much game time, still needs more minutes to sharpen up.”
Scholes expressed deep concern about the team’s physical condition, noting that it could have broader implications for their season. “That’s my main worry. Even though it’s still early in the campaign, these are worrying signs. You have to ask yourself, is the team putting in the work behind the scenes to reach the level of fitness they need? Based on today’s performance, they just didn’t look fit enough.”
Scholes didn’t stop there. He also questioned the fitness of United’s defensive line, specifically the center-backs, who, in his view, should be able to play the full 90 minutes without issue. “If your center-backs can’t last an entire game, that’s a red flag. It points to a deeper problem with the team’s overall fitness. Your back four, particularly your center-backs, should be able to see out a game, especially this early in the season. Maybe you make a substitution at full-back now and then, but not with your center-backs. Yet in the first three matches, United have had to make changes there mid-game. That’s not a good sign.”
He added, “People might use the Euros as an excuse, suggesting players need time to regain their rhythm, but Liverpool had players at the Euros too. Plenty of other teams did, and they’re not facing the same struggles as United.”
Looking ahead, Manchester United will have a chance to regroup after the international break when they return to Premier League action against newly-promoted Southampton. However, based on Scholes’ comments, it’s clear that significant improvements are needed, particularly in fitness and midfield control, if United are to turn their season around. The coming weeks could prove critical for both the squad and manager Erik ten Hag.
