BREAKING NEWS: Live from Stamford bridge, Chelsea agrees to deal to sign Brazilian wonder kid with €70m release clause. “Maresca came in and has been nothing short of brilliant! He’s completely transformed this team, and the board is all in, ready to back him with any player he wants.

Chelsea is reportedly turning its attention to Brazil to bolster their squad for future seasons. The club has already lined up agreements for two promising Brazilian talents: Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, who is set to join in 2025, and Gabriel Mec from Gremio, who will arrive in 2026. Now, they are shifting their focus to another rising star from Brazil—Joan Pedro Chermont.

Chermont, an 18-year-old right-back, currently plays for Santos, the club that produced legendary players like Neymar Jr. and Pele. According to the Brazilian news outlet UOL, Chelsea has been closely tracking Chermont’s performances and even sent scouts to watch him in action during a match against Operario in September.

Chelsea reportedly made an initial offer of approximately €6 million for the young defender. However, Santos turned down this bid. Nevertheless, it’s expected that Chelsea will come back with a stronger offer during the January transfer window. Chermont recently renewed his contract with Santos, extending his stay until 2027. His new deal includes a significant €70 million release clause, which Santos seems unwilling to negotiate down.

Chermont has made a name for himself at Santos, where he has become a regular starter despite his young age. This season, he has been instrumental in the team’s success, scoring two goals and assisting three more in 24 appearances. Santos is currently second in Brazil’s Serie B, and Chermont, who also represents Brazil at the U-20 level, is considered a crucial player in their quest to return to the top-flight Serie A.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, under the leadership of manager Enzo Maresca, has had a strong start to their current campaign. They sit in fourth place in the Premier League standings, having won four out of six matches, with their only defeat coming in the opening week against Manchester City. Additionally, Chelsea’s performance in domestic and international competitions has been impressive. In the Carabao Cup, they dominated Barrow AFC with a 5-0 win in the third round. They are also competing in the UEFA Conference League, where they began their group stage with a 4-2 victory over Gent. Their next challenge will be a Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on October 6.

As Chelsea continues to strengthen its roster, Chermont could be the next exciting addition to their defense. If the club is successful in landing the young right-back, it will be another signal of their commitment to securing top talent from around the world to compete at the highest level in the years to come.
