We need wingers and have concluded who to bring back between Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood. It’s a hard decision but we had no choice. Mason Greenwood might return to the club soon as he was preferred by the board”-BREAKING NEWS as Mason Greenwood plans to return to Manchester United to help the club with squad

Mason Greenwood, who transferred from Manchester United to Marseille this summer, is reportedly focused on reviving his international career with England, despite the challenges he’s faced in recent years. According to The Sun, Greenwood is eager to discuss his future with England’s new manager, Thomas Tuchel, to understand whether he still has a place in the squad. The forward remains hopeful about representing England again, a dream he hasn’t abandoned despite the controversies surrounding his exit from Manchester United.

Greenwood wants to evaluate the position of both the Football Association (FA) and Tuchel before deciding on his next steps. Tuchel was appointed as England’s head coach after Gareth Southgate stepped down following the Euro 2024 tournament. The former Chelsea manager will begin his 18-month term with England in early 2025, bringing a new leadership perspective to the national team.

Greenwood, who earned his first England cap in 2020, is keen to add more. His career took a turn in 2022 when he faced legal issues that kept him off the field for some time. Greenwood managed to restart his professional journey with a loan move to Getafe before signing with Marseille. Since joining the French side, he has scored five goals in seven Ligue 1 appearances, demonstrating that his skills have remained sharp despite his time away from the game.

A source allegedly close to Greenwood shared with The Sun: “Mason is aware that his chances with England are slim, but he wants clarity from the FA and Tuchel about where he stands. His goal is to compete at the top level, ideally aiming to make the World Cup squad. If representing England isn’t possible, he’ll consider playing for Jamaica in 2026.”

Yet, a return to the England team seems improbable. Both Gareth Southgate and interim manager Lee Carsley were reluctant to reintegrate Greenwood, and it is expected that Tuchel, along with the FA, will continue this stance, mindful of the potential controversies surrounding his inclusion.

Moreover, Greenwood’s path is complicated by England’s current strength in attacking options. Players like Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, and Jarrod Bowen have flourished, making it difficult for Greenwood to find a spot. Considering these factors, playing for Jamaica may be Greenwood’s best path to the 2026 World Cup.
