“I was surprise he was not playing at all. No coach in the world will bench him for any reason. I will make him a world class player once again”-Ruben Amorim was shocked about forgotten Man Utd star’ as he plans to make him a key player in new-look starting XI

Ruben Amorim is reportedly planning to make Mason Mount a central part of his vision for Manchester United.

After taking over from Erik ten Hag, Amorim arrived at United’s Carrington training ground on Monday with a contract running until 2027. His appointment also marked the end of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s time on the coaching staff. Van Nistelrooy, who had stepped in temporarily, had enjoyed an unbeaten stint, but with Amorim now in charge, both he and assistants Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel have departed. The club expressed appreciation for Van Nistelrooy’s contributions, especially given his return to support Ten Hag earlier in the summer.

This staffing change was Amorim’s first major move, but according to The Sun, he has more in mind, including a surprising strategy involving Mason Mount. Mount, who joined United for £55 million from Chelsea, has yet to make the impact many had hoped for. Wearing United’s legendary No. 7 jersey, previously sported by Cristiano Ronaldo, Mount had a difficult time last season, appearing in just 20 matches and scoring only once due to injury. This season, his playtime has been limited to six appearances, and he hasn’t received a recent call-up for the England national team.

Despite these setbacks, Amorim appears optimistic about Mount’s abilities, particularly his adaptability. Amorim sees him fitting well into a new system that emphasizes three central defenders. Mount previously excelled in a similar tactical setup under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, playing a pivotal role in their 2021 Champions League triumph. Ten Hag had initially planned to partner Mount with Casemiro in midfield, but the pairing didn’t achieve the expected results.

Now fully recovered from injury, Mount is one of the few senior players who will be available for training during the upcoming international break. This situation presents an ideal moment for Amorim to begin incorporating Mount into his new approach and establish him as an essential figure in United’s evolving lineup.
