“He is just like Romelu Lukaku. He can’t play our style but he will do very well there. So we havr to let him go for better players to come”-Man Utd ‘line up’ outrageous swap deal for world-class striker with Joshua Zirkzee set to leave
Manchester United is reportedly exploring a swap deal involving Joshua Zirkzee after his disappointing start at the club.
Zirkzee joined the Red Devils during the summer transfer window, signing a five-year deal worth £34 million from Bologna. Brought in to strengthen United’s attacking options alongside Rasmus Højlund, the former Bayern Munich striker initially impressed with a dramatic late winner on his debut against Fulham. However, his form has since declined, as he has failed to score in his next 15 appearances, leading to speculation about his future at Old Trafford.
With Ruben Amorim recently appointed as United’s manager, Zirkzee might get a chance to revive his form. Yet, reports indicate that the club is considering using him as a bargaining chip in their pursuit of Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen. According to Il Mattino, as relayed by Get Football News Italy, United has offered Zirkzee in a potential player-swap deal to secure the Nigerian forward’s services.
Osimhen’s current situation at Napoli has been far from stable. Under manager Antonio Conte, he was stripped of his iconic No. 9 jersey and subsequently loaned out to Turkish giants Galatasaray. Despite this, Osimhen has been exceptional in Turkey, netting eight goals in just nine matches. Moreover, his loan agreement reportedly includes a clause allowing him to leave Galatasaray in January if an offer comes from a top-tier club.
The proposed exchange could be mutually advantageous for both teams. Manchester United, eager to reinforce their attacking lineup, would acquire a proven goal-scorer in Osimhen. Meanwhile, Napoli could secure a promising young forward in Zirkzee, offering him a fresh start in Serie A. This potential move underscores the ambitions of both clubs to reshape their rosters and maintain competitiveness in their respective leagues.
