After the tough win over Las Palmas… Hansi Flick praises Barcelona’s star and acknowledges his role in securing the victory for Barcelona last night

Barcelona secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Las Palmas in a challenging La Liga encounter. With this win, they now shift their focus to their upcoming match against Real Sociedad, scheduled for March 2nd at the Luis Companys Stadium. The victory adds three crucial points to Barcelona’s tally, bringing them to a total of 54 and solidifying their position at the top of the league standings. In contrast, Las Palmas remains in a precarious position, sitting in 17th place with just 23 points.

According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, several key tactical decisions played a significant role in shaping the outcome of the match. German coach Hansi Flick was instrumental in guiding Barcelona to victory, ensuring they reclaimed their position as league leaders.

One of the most notable contributors to the win was Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, whose exceptional reflexes and crucial saves helped Barcelona maintain a clean sheet. Flick spoke highly of Szczesny’s performance, highlighting that his influence goes beyond just this match and that he deserves greater recognition for his consistency and reliability.

Another standout performer was Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo, who delivered a remarkable goal that broke the deadlock and set Barcelona on the path to victory. Olmo’s display was particularly noteworthy as he had been left out of the starting lineup in recent matches. However, Flick acknowledged his impact and assured that, given his stellar performance against Las Palmas, Olmo would be reinstated in the starting eleven for upcoming fixtures.

In contrast, young midfielder Fermin Lopez was not included in the starting lineup, a decision Flick attributed to his underwhelming performances at the beginning of matches. However, the coach noted that Lopez tends to have a more positive influence when coming off the bench, suggesting that his role as a substitute may continue for now.

In an unexpected development, Barcelona president Joan Laporta made a special visit to the locker room after the match to personally congratulate Dani Olmo on his outstanding performance. Laporta stressed Olmo’s importance to the team and urged Flick to give him more opportunities in the starting lineup, recognizing his potential to be a key figure for the remainder of the season.
