Amazing news hits Man United as one of the main target Informs his current club that He Has No Intention of Playing for the Club Again as he prepares for his next challenge in his new club

Viktor Gyökeres has reportedly communicated to Sporting CP that he no longer intends to play for the Portuguese club, following a serious deterioration in trust that centers around a previously established transfer agreement that now appears to have collapsed.

The 27-year-old Swedish striker had originally reached a verbal understanding with Sporting’s management that would have seen him leave the club during the current summer transfer window. Under the terms of that gentleman’s agreement, Sporting was willing to sanction his departure for a fixed transfer fee of €60 million (approximately ÂŁ50.8 million), with an additional €10 million potentially payable through performance-related add-ons. However, recent developments have significantly altered that arrangement. It has come to light that Sporting’s president, Frederico Varandas, has unilaterally shifted the financial demands, now insisting that any club wishing to secure Gyökeres’ services must meet a much higher valuation of €80 million. This unexpected and abrupt change has reportedly angered Gyökeres, who views it as a betrayal of the trust and understanding that had been previously established.

According to a report published by the Portuguese newspaper Record (print edition, page 8), Gyökeres has personally voiced his frustration directly to Sporting’s leadership, firmly stating that he has no intention of returning to the club or playing at the José Alvalade Stadium again. The report explicitly quotes that:
“The Swedish striker has told Sporting, in no uncertain terms, that he will no longer wear the club’s jersey.”

Gyökeres’ strong position stems from what he perceives to be a breach of the verbal agreement originally made last September. He believes that Sporting’s recent shift in stance represents a serious violation of the gentleman’s agreement that both sides had mutually respected up until now. As of yet, Sporting CP has not issued any formal public statement regarding the escalating situation. Nevertheless, it is expected that Frederico Varandas will address the matter during a scheduled media appearance later today at an event in Leiria.

Sources close to the situation have indicated that, if meaningful progress is not made in resolving the dispute, Gyökeres is prepared to end his vacation in Sweden earlier than planned in order to publicly speak out about the issue—a step he has so far avoided out of loyalty and respect for the club’s fans.

Despite the ongoing standoff with Sporting, interest in Gyökeres from several top clubs remains high. The Record newspaper confirms that clubs such as Al-Hilal (from Saudi Arabia), Juventus (from Italy), and English Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United are all actively pursuing his signature.

Although Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al-Hilal have reportedly tabled an enormous salary offer worth approximately ÂŁ570,000 per week, Gyökeres is said to favor remaining in Europe for the next stage of his career. Juventus remains a viable option as well, but the Italian club’s financial constraints and domestic wage regulations could make finalizing a deal challenging. As a result, the competition for Gyökeres’ transfer now appears to have narrowed to two primary candidates: Manchester United and Arsenal.

While Record suggests that Arsenal may currently be in the strongest position to submit an official offer for Gyökeres, other media outlets have indicated that the North London club remains heavily focused on completing a separate transfer for RB Leipzig’s talented forward, Benjamin Šeško. On the other hand, Manchester United’s pursuit of Gyökeres may also hinge on their ability to complete several outgoing transfers first, as they have already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha and are engaged in advanced negotiations for Bryan Mbeumo, according to reports from ESPN.

Nonetheless, with Gyökeres standing his ground and his relationship with Sporting now seemingly beyond repair, Manchester United—backed by INEOS’ financial strength—may be forced to accelerate their pursuit. The club could potentially leverage manager Ruben Amorim’s previously established connection with the player to gain a competitive advantage in the negotiations, even though United’s absence from next season’s Champions League might otherwise hinder their appeal.
