RAPHINHA ISSUES ULTIMATUM TO BARCELONA: “Sign Nico Williams and I’m Gone!”

Barcelona winger Raphinha has issued a strong and direct message to club president Joan Laporta, reportedly warning that he may consider leaving the club if they proceed with efforts to sign Nico Williams—a player who would directly compete with him for a starting role—according to a report by El Nacional.

The Brazilian international, who joined Barcelona from Leeds United, has displayed moments of exceptional talent but has also struggled with consistency throughout his time at the club. Now, with Hansi Flick taking over as head coach, Raphinha is eager to secure and maintain his position as a first-choice player. However, mounting speculation that the club is actively pursuing Nico Williams—a young and dynamic winger from Athletic Club, known for his blistering speed and aggressive attacking style—has unsettled Raphinha and his representatives.

Sources close to the player suggest he interprets the club’s interest in Williams as a sign that the management may be losing faith in him. As a result, he is reportedly open to exploring opportunities elsewhere, including a possible return to the Premier League or a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, if he feels his role in the team is being threatened.

Barcelona, meanwhile, continues to grapple with serious financial constraints, including the urgent need to reduce their wage expenses. Selling Raphinha could provide the club with a valuable influx of funds. However, such a decision could prove controversial, especially considering the winger’s recent return to form, which has endeared him to both teammates and supporters.
