DAZN forced to apologise after Cole Palmer drops explicit rant during interview after Club World Cup win

Cole Palmer once again demonstrated why he has become such a crucial figure in Chelsea’s recent successes, emerging as the central force behind their triumphant campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup, held in New York. Under the leadership of head coach Enzo Maresca, the Premier League side defied the odds to lift the prestigious trophy, largely thanks to Palmer’s brilliance on the pitch.

Going into the final match against the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, Chelsea were widely regarded as the underdogs. The odds were stacked against them, and few gave them a realistic chance of victory. However, Palmer had other ideas. With unwavering confidence and skill, he netted two impressive goals in the first half, providing Chelsea with a dominant and somewhat unexpected advantage.

But Palmer wasn’t finished. Shifting roles with ease, he turned provider later in the match, threading a perfectly timed and incisive through ball to recent arrival Joao Pedro. The new signing made no mistake, coolly lifting the ball past the goalkeeper with a delicate chip to score his third goal in only his second appearance for the club. The assist from Palmer showcased not just his scoring ability, but his vision and creativity as a playmaker.

Palmer’s all-around performance throughout the tournament didn’t go unnoticed. He was deservedly named the best player of the entire competition — an honor made even more notable as it was presented to him by former U.S. President Donald Trump during the post-match ceremony.

Shortly after the final whistle confirmed Chelsea’s victory, the 23-year-old star was ushered into a live post-match interview with DAZN. Clearly overwhelmed by emotion, Palmer didn’t hold back when speaking his truth. Reacting to the intense criticism and doubt that had followed Chelsea throughout the season, he bluntly stated, “Everyone’s been talking a lot of sh*t about us all year.” His raw and unfiltered remark led to an immediate cut in the live broadcast, and DAZN later issued an official apology for the strong language used.

Nonetheless, Palmer continued his candid reflections, sharing what the win meant to him and the squad. “This feels incredible,” he said. “Especially knowing that almost no one believed we could do it. But we did. We showed heart, determination, and a will to fight for each other. That kind of performance speaks volumes.”

He added, “I really love playing in finals. It just brings something out of me. Once again, it happened.”

Palmer also gave credit to manager Enzo Maresca for devising a tactical game plan that helped unlock the opposition. “He knew exactly where the spaces would open up, and he gave me the license to move freely and make something happen. My job was to step up and score — and I did that.”

Reflecting on the bigger picture, Palmer expressed belief in what Maresca is building at the club. “This is the beginning of something important. There’s a special project taking shape here.”

Following this memorable victory on the world stage, Palmer and his Chelsea teammates will now be granted a brief but much-needed rest period. While other Premier League clubs have already begun their preseason training ahead of the upcoming campaign starting on August 15th, Chelsea will enjoy some time off to recover from their grueling yet rewarding journey at the Club World Cup.
