Premier League manager has been sacked this evening and replaced with former Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel!
According to a reliable source, Manchester United have initiated discussions with Thomas Tuchel, the current manager of Bayern Munich, with regards to potential succession plans for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. The uncertainty surrounding the Dutchman’s future at the club has sparked widespread speculation, especially considering the challenges he has faced amid a turbulent season for the Red Devils. Despite having a contract with United until 2025, it is widely anticipated that other coaching options will be explored come summer.
Georg Holzner of Kicker has reported that discussions between United and Tuchel have already taken place, with the possibility of the former Chelsea coach making a move away from the Bundesliga. Tuchel, who joined Bayern in March 2023, is expected to depart at the end of the current season.
Reports suggest that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a part-owner of Manchester United, is keen on acquiring Tuchel’s services as part of his efforts to revamp the team ahead of the 2024–2025 campaign. With an impressive track record, including two Ligue 1 championships, the Bundesliga title, and a Champions League trophy to his name, Tuchel’s credentials are highly regarded. Despite recently guiding Bayern past Arsenal into the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, his team narrowly missed out on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen.
Following a hard-fought victory over Coventry City to secure a spot in the FA Cup final at Wembley, Erik ten Hag faced further scrutiny, although he praised his team’s resilience in reaching the milestone.
In a dramatic semi-final match, Manchester United held a commanding 3-0 lead before the hour mark, only for the Championship side to mount a comeback, ultimately forcing extra time and a penalty shootout, which United narrowly won. The FA Cup represents their last chance to claim silverware this season, but they face a tough challenge in the final against Manchester City, the reigning champions.
