A 50-year-old is more inclined to take over Mauricio Pochettino’s role at Chelsea rather than join West Ham.

As the League Cup final approaches, the focus on Chelsea’s managerial situation remains unabated, despite their upcoming clash with Liverpool. Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure as Chelsea’s manager has been characterized by highs and lows. While the team has secured a spot in the cup final, their performance in the league has been inconsistent, to say the least.

There’s a recognition that Pochettino is grappling with a youthful squad largely assembled without his direct input. Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that this squad boasts considerable talent, with investments totaling nearly £1 billion, including significant acquisitions like Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, whose combined transfer fees exceed £200 million.

According to a report from German outlet BILD, Pochettino’s position could be in jeopardy due to the looming shadow of former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. The report suggests that Tuchel’s affinity for Chelsea would likely deter him from considering a managerial role at West Ham. Moreover, if Pochettino’s performance deteriorates towards the end of the season, it’s speculated that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly might contemplate reappointing Tuchel.

Such a scenario would epitomize the unpredictable nature of Chelsea’s managerial decisions in the contemporary era. The notion of Boehly dismissing Pochettino only to reinstate a manager he previously let go would be nothing short of astonishing. While rumors swirl around Tuchel’s future, with his impending departure from Bayern Munich this summer, it’s conceivable that these speculations are fueled by his agents to generate interest and buzz.

Nonetheless, given Chelsea’s track record of making unconventional moves, the possibility cannot be discounted entirely. Chelsea has a history of making surprising decisions, and reinstalling Tuchel would undoubtedly rank among the most perplexing. This is not to discredit Tuchel’s managerial prowess; however, considering the significant investment in and apparent faith placed in Pochettino, such a decision would leave many scratching their heads.
