CONFIRMED: Manchester United first summer signing pictured in training today at Carrington with the rest of Man United squad – announcement coming up shortly

Manchester United are in desperate need of a world-class striker if they hope to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title next season. One name that has repeatedly surfaced in this context is Victor Osimhen.

Last summer, the Red Devils were reportedly preparing a substantial offer for the Nigerian international. However, Osimhen chose to remain with his current club, Napoli.

Recent reports from Italy suggest that Manchester United have proposed a surprising swap deal involving their Danish center forward, Rasmus Hojlund, in a bid to secure the services of Osimhen, who is valued at £84.9 million.

La Repubblica reports that the Old Trafford club is offering Hojlund as part of a deal to tempt the African superstar away from Naples. Additionally, Manchester United are reportedly interested in acquiring Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and have had direct discussions with the Dutch forward’s agent.

Victor Osimhen is widely regarded as one of the premier strikers in Europe. During the 2022-23 season, he emerged as the top scorer in Serie A, playing a pivotal role in Napoli’s triumphant campaign that saw them clinch the Scudetto for the first time in over three decades.

Despite facing setbacks due to injuries and national duty commitments last season, Osimhen managed to start in 22 league matches and score 15 goals, demonstrating his remarkable consistency and goal-scoring prowess.

For Manchester United, securing a player of Osimhen’s caliber could significantly bolster their attacking options and enhance their chances of competing at the highest level in the Premier League.
