‘Thanks for your support’: Chelsea Star and Spain International Marc Cucurella COOKS Gary Neville after Euro win for Calling him

Following Spain’s triumphant win over England in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday night, Marc Cucurella and his girlfriend, Claudia Rodriguez, had something to say to Gary Neville.
Initially, many doubted Cucurella’s inclusion in Luis de la Fuente’s squad for the tournament. Despite these doubts, the Chelsea defender emerged as one of Spain’s surprise stars. Prior to Spain’s opening match against Croatia, which ended in a commanding 3-0 victory, Neville had criticized Cucurella, labeling him as a potential weak link in the team.
“We weren’t expecting him to play,” Neville remarked on June 15 to ITV.
After Spain’s victory over England, Cucurella made sure to highlight Neville’s critique. Both Cucurella and Rodriguez took to Instagram to address Neville’s earlier comments.
Rodriguez took a direct jab at Neville with a post featuring Cucurella celebrating Spain’s victory, captioning it, “How was your night, @gneville2?” Meanwhile, Cucurella shared a photo of himself rejoicing and included a snippet of Neville’s critique, captioning it, “We went all the way, Gary. Thanks for your support.”
Despite having only played sporadically for Chelsea towards the end of the season, Cucurella proved his worth in the Euro 2024 tournament. Neville had previously commented on Cucurella’s form, stating, “Although he hasn’t been very impressive at Chelsea, he is a busy little full-back who is aggressive and persistent. The price tag still surprises many to this day. Despite the Spanish defense’s experience, there’s something about them that doesn’t instill confidence they’ll win. And I have to admit, Cucurella playing left back is a part of that uncertainty.”
In the wake of Spain’s victory, Neville’s comments seemed ironic. Cucurella, his fiancée Rodriguez, and the entire Spanish team celebrated their triumph at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Reflecting on the journey, Cucurella told TVE, “Nobody gave us a chance. We stayed silent and ended up winning the Euros. We showed that we can both play and endure hardships. We suffered together as a unit. We arrived as a group of players but now we are a family.”
