Xavi appears to be interested in pursuing a coaching career in the Premier League following his resignation as the manager of Barcelona at the end of the current season.
The Spanish coach recently ended his tenure at his boyhood club after three years at the helm, during which he secured one La Liga title and a Supercopa de España.
It is uncertain where the 44-year-old will end up next, but hints from his homeland suggest possible directions for his future.
As reported by SPORT, the four-time Champions League winner is contemplating a break due to the intense pressure he endured while managing at Camp Nou. Sources indicate that Xavi “would prefer” to manage in the Premier League, where he could “take on an exciting project.”
Manchester United’s potential interest in hiring the former Barcelona coach is another factor, as they continue to evaluate Erik ten Hag’s position at the club. According to The Times, a decision might be imminent, with the club aiming to make a choice this week.
One candidate seemingly out of the running is Thomas Tuchel, who reportedly met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe in Monaco last week. Tuchel, making his case for the Old Trafford role, allegedly promised to maximize the potential of English players Mason Mount and Jadon Sancho. However, he left the meeting “understanding” that he would not be considered for the job if Ten Hag were dismissed.
Ten Hag has returned from his post-season holiday and remains anxious about his future. After the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, the Dutch manager stated, “I don’t think about this. I am currently focused on our project, and we are exactly where we want to be.
“We are assembling a team, and when I took over at Manchester United, the situation was chaotic. We are now on the path to building a team for the future. There will be ups and downs, but the team is growing and achieving victories, and ultimately, it’s about winning trophies.
“The squad is improving, and we are earning accolades. Two trophies in two years is not bad. Reaching three finals is commendable, but we need to keep progressing. I am not satisfied with our current performance. We have to do better, and if the club no longer wants me, I will go elsewhere to win trophies, which is what I have done throughout my career.”
