“I love competitions, three top strikers at one club will be very scary for opposition clubs because everybody would want to score. It’s my dream club and they have what I need. I wish the deal would be done as soon as possible after the Euros” Second striker offers himself to Man Utd in extraordinary move after Joshua Zirkzee transfer

Manchester United Poised to Sign Zirkzee, Eyes Also on Toney

A new striker is eager to join Manchester United, even as the club is close to finalizing a deal for Joshua Zirkzee.

It was widely reported on Thursday that United had reached an agreement to sign Bologna’s forward Joshua Zirkzee for a fee slightly exceeding £35 million. This agreement involves paying more than the 23-year-old’s £33.6 million release clause to secure more favorable payment terms.

Zirkzee, a Netherlands international who has been playing for his country at Euro 2024, has already agreed to personal terms with United. The forward, who netted 12 goals and provided seven assists to help Bologna qualify for the Champions League this season, is scheduled to undergo a medical examination this week. Once completed, he is expected to sign a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year.

In addition to securing Zirkzee, United has expressed interest in England striker Ivan Toney, according to Christian Falk of Bild. Toney, who has one year remaining on his contract with Brentford, reportedly wishes to join United. His agent has already informed Brentford of Toney’s intentions.

Toney has gained attention for his performance, particularly his role in England’s quarter-final victory over Switzerland, where he was crucial in the penalty shoot-out. The striker has long indicated a desire to play for a club competing at the top of the Premier League.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank, while serving as a pundit for the BBC, commented on Toney’s potential departure. He mentioned that the club had “prepared” for this eventuality by signing Igor Thiago from Club Bruges.

Responding to his manager’s remarks, Toney stated, “I didn’t hear him say that. I can’t predict the future, and if I could, I wouldn’t be sitting here in front of you guys. What will be will be, and my main focus is playing well and performing for my country.”

He continued, “I’ve experienced transfer speculation before. There has been a lot of talk about me moving here, there, and everywhere in my career, but I don’t let the outside noise affect me. My current focus is on doing well for England, and whatever happens, happens. I can’t control it.

Reflecting on a previous near-transfer to Wolves when he was 18, Toney shared, “I was all excited and involved in it, but when it didn’t happen, it hurt me. Since then, I’ve decided not to stress about things beyond my control. I let those who handle such matters do their job, while I concentrate on my performance on the pitch.”

In summary, while Manchester United is on the brink of securing Joshua Zirkzee, they are also keeping their options open with an interest in Ivan Toney. This potential double addition could significantly bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.
