Rivaldo, a renowned former player for Barcelona, has advised the team to avoid hasty decisions regarding a potential deal for Nico Williams.
The Catalan club is diligently exploring options to sign the 22-year-old player from Athletic Club during this summer transfer window.
For Barcelona, securing a well-structured agreement is crucial. Negotiations are expected to continue until August before a final decision is reached by either party.
Barcelona supporters are confident that Williams will join the team in the coming weeks. However, Rivaldo has expressed concerns that after Real Madrid’s acquisition of Kylian Mbappe, securing a deal for Williams might be challenging.
“I deeply care about Barcelona, but I must be honest—Real Madrid currently has the upper hand,” Rivaldo commented. He believes that while acquiring Nico Williams would be beneficial for Barcelona, the team needs to finalize one or two additional signings to regain their global charm, as reported by Marca.
“Barcelona must demonstrate that they are on par with Real Madrid,” Rivaldo added. Although Nico Williams’ arrival would be advantageous, Barcelona needs to prove their capabilities, particularly in the El Clasico.
“Simply signing Nico Williams won’t suffice for Barcelona to surpass Real Madrid with Mbappe on their side.”
There will be no updates on the deal in the upcoming weeks as Williams is on an extended summer break, and Barcelona is still working on gathering the necessary funds to make a formal offer.
