FC Barcelona has announced its intention to acquire a player who was on loan from another team last season.
“FC Barcelona and Los Angeles FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Mamadou Mbacke Fall. He will sign a contract for two seasons, concluding on June 30, 2026, with the option to extend for an additional two years,” according to the statement.
“Mamadou Mbacke Fall, the Senegalese center defender, played for Barça Atlètic on loan from the American team last year.”
“The actual act of signing the contract has not yet occurred,” the letter stated.
As previously mentioned, Mbacke played for Barcelona’s reserve team, Barça Atlético, last season. He was recognized as a “center back distinguished by his aerial prowess.”
At the conclusion of last season, following a strong performance under Rafa Marquez, who is no longer the head coach of Barcelona Atlètic, Mundo Deportivo reported that negotiations were underway to fully acquire Mbacke for $4 million plus bonuses.
There were also speculations that Mbacke might be promoted to the first team or at least train with it alongside his fellow countryman Mika Faye. Consequently, many were surprised when Mbacke announced his departure on Instagram at the end of last month.
In his farewell post, Mbacke wrote in Catalan and French, “Hi Culers, it has been a wonderful journey sharing moments as a teammate and as a fan.”
“When I arrived, my aim was to help restore Barcelona to its rightful place, but that was not God’s will.”
“I am delighted to have been a part of you; I cherished every moment.” “Thank you all, it was a brief but memorable journey,” Mbacke said as he bid farewell.
However, on July 8, SPORT reported that Barcelona and Mbacke had reached a “total agreement” to acquire the player. The deal has now been finalized two weeks later.
Although Mbacke is now a regular member of the Barcelona Athletic team, it remains possible that the club may consider selling him if a suitable offer is received during the summer transfer window.
