Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has today announced the signing of La Liga Star a potential replacement for Robert lewandoski if he retires next summer

Robert Lewandowski, who netted 26 goals for FC Barcelona during the 2023–2024 season, was the club’s top scorer. This achievement, combined with the continuous efforts of the Barcelona coaching staff and the arrival of Hansi Flick as the head coach, reinforced Lewandowski’s status as the team’s primary striker, or “number 9.” While it is true that the team has not clearly identified a secondary option to fill his role when he is not on the field, the situation remains open for consideration.

If the statistics are accurate, Ferran Torres, who scored 11 goals last season, was the second-highest scoring forward on the team. Torres accumulated these goals throughout the season without drawing significant attention. The player from Foios has increasingly become a central figure in the penalty area, honing his goal-scoring instincts and showing potential to step up when necessary.

It appears that the primary backup for Lewandowski is now evident. Hansi Flick has indicated that Ferran Torres possesses the qualities needed to serve as an alternative center-forward, especially in the latter stages of games when the play opens up. This is part of Flick’s strategy for “Sport.” As a result, it is expected that Ferran Torres will serve as Barcelona’s secondary forward in the upcoming season, though this may be subject to change depending on developments with Vitor Roque.

In this context, Ferran Torres will assume a crucial role, similar to what he demonstrated last season by effectively utilizing his playing time. His quick movement in open spaces and sharp goal-scoring ability have made him a valuable asset in the eyes of his new coach. Additionally, his versatility allows him to play on either wing, though his greatest contribution will be providing Lewandowski with the opportunity to rest.

It is also important to note that Lewandowski, who has always emphasized the importance of physical conditioning, will turn 36 this year. Therefore, careful management is necessary to prevent overexertion or muscle injuries that could potentially sideline him for extended periods. Having a capable alternative like Ferran Torres available will not only offer Lewandowski rest during critical times in the season but also aligns with the club’s adjustments aimed at ensuring the former Bayern Munich star can continue performing at his best.
