“He was the cause of our defeat, he had lost the ball more than 10 times on the pitch which caused the second and Third goal, he needs to leave my club-Enzo Maresca reveals main person for Chelsea defeat

Enzo Maresca acknowledges that Chelsea needs to work on various aspects of their play, especially when they are not in possession of the ball, following their significant 4-1 defeat to Celtic during a preseason match on Saturday night.

The Scottish champions secured a lead in the first half thanks to goals from Matt O’Reily and Kyogo Furuhashi, with Brendan Rodgers’ side comfortably winning the match at Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana.

In the second half, Luis Palma and Mikey Johnston further extended Celtic’s lead, while Christopher Nkunku scored a late penalty to provide a consolation goal for Chelsea.

This match marked Chelsea’s first loss in the preseason, after they had drawn 2-2 with Wrexham earlier in the week.

Maresca also mentioned that his team still struggles with their understanding of possession and movement, describing them as “disoriented” in these aspects.

Following the game, Maresca emphasized the importance of the result, stating, “The outcome is crucial, as we have mentioned. For us, it is essential to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the game.” He noted that Chelsea’s performance on the ball was significantly better compared to their match against Wrexham, highlighting the increased number of scoring opportunities they created in both halves.
