Barcelona: Manager Hansi Flick Thinking of Shuffling His Back Line This Summer

Barcelona has not been very active in the transfer market, but the new manager, Hansi Flick, is gradually identifying potential players for the team.

Flick has taken particular notice of the young players, especially midfielders Marc Casado and Marc Bernal. In the defensive line, left-back Gerard Martin has proven to be reliable. Meanwhile, Alex Valle has been playing out of position on the right, but he contributed an assist in the El Clasico game and has been actively involved from the beginning of matches.

Sergi Domínguez has also shown his defensive prowess by shutting down prominent forwards like Erling Haaland and Vinícius Jr. Although Sergi will continue to play for Barça Atlètic, he is gradually gaining confidence, which is beneficial for his future role in the team.

With Joao Cancelo’s availability still uncertain and the options of Jules Kounde, Hector Fort, and Alejandro Balde available for selection, Flick has multiple choices. Martin is also highly regarded within the sporting department, making the competition for defensive positions quite intense.

As a result, players likely to drop out of the starting eleven include Senegalese center-back Mikayil Faye and Mexican right-back Julian Araujo.

Faye, who also occasionally plays at left-back, has been linked with a possible move. Araujo, after a decent spell at Las Palmas last season, might be sent out on loan again or possibly transferred permanently if Valle, Fort, Kounde, or even Cancelo are considered more favorable options ahead of him.
