Manchester United are reportedly considering a £25 million offer to acquire 26-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge, who is currently valued at £30 million by Burnley. According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United has shown interest in Berge as a potential alternative to their primary target, Manuel Ugarte. While Burnley is holding out for £30 million to release Berge, Manchester United is prepared to propose £25 million for his transfer.

Since joining Burnley last summer, Berge has made 40 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists. However, Burnley’s recent relegation to the EFL Championship has led Berge to seek a move away from the club after just one season. His performance and potential have attracted attention from several prominent clubs across Europe, and he might soon return to the Premier League.

Manchester United’s interest in Berge is a response to their need for a reliable holding midfielder, especially given Casemiro’s inconsistent form throughout the 2023/24 season. While Ugarte was initially the club’s top target, negotiations for his transfer have stalled, making Berge a viable alternative. Burnley’s asking price of £30 million presents a challenge, as Manchester United’s initial bid of £25 million falls short by £5 million. It remains to be seen whether this bid will be sufficient to secure Berge’s transfer to Old Trafford.
